SANTIAGO, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris on Thursday unveiled a plan in the event of a second novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, like the current new outbreak in Europe.
Paris said at a press conference that "several European presidents have announced very drastic measures and fear a saturation of their health services due to the increase in patients with COVID-19."
Faced with this scenario, Paris highlighted a plan drawn up by the Ministry of Health that "will allow us to have beds and to have all the apparatus of the public and private system available to patients who may appear."
"We cannot lower our guard and we must continue to maintain all prevention measures; the virus persists in our community," he said.
According to official data, Chile registered 1,519 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 507,050 cases to date.
The ministry also announced that 86 deaths were reported over the last day, bringing the death toll to 14,118.
